Video Projects

Here’s a few things I’ve done with my video camera. There’s lots more on My YouTube page, though.

A Day On The Feltboard

A Day On The Feltboard My daughter and her friend wanted to animate something so we put together this very short felt board movie. It makes no sense at all because my 6-year-old daughter, Emily, directed it. After it was finished we added a bunch of sound effects to it. The whole thing took maybe 2 hours. Emily drew the ending screen and her friend Brianna drew the opening screens. The music is Hella Good by No Doubt. Created in January 2003.

Dancing People

Dancing People This is another one of my Bored On A Saturday Afternoon projects. I took all the toy people and animals out of my son’s room and tried to make them dance on the table. You get to see Teletubbies get run over by a semi truck in this movie. The music is We Are All Made of Stars by Moby. Made in Summer 2002.

Animated Blocks

Animated Blocks This is something I did out of boredom a few Saturdays ago. Stop-motion with some of my kids toys. The 2 names I spell out with the blocks are my kids’ names. The whole thing took about 30 minutes to create. I was going to keep going at it for awhile, but Payton (my 2 year old) started getting in the way and taking the toys away from me. You’ll see his hands popping into the video around the end. (862k divx video)

R.C. Battles

R.C. Battles I mounted an x10 wireless video camera on top of my radio controlled car and plugged the receiver into my video camera. The next day we did it again and a neighbor kid joined in with his own R.C. car so we could play crash-up derby. The final footage was almost 30 minutes long and I edited it down to 3 1/2 minutes to fit the song I set it to. (2.7 megs Windows Media)

Flying Kids

Flying Kids Here’s my daughter and a neighbor kid flying across our living room. I had them stand in place and jump, scoot forward, jump again, etc. I made them fly by cutting out the parts where they weren’t in the air. The main problem (other than Payton popping up in scenes like he always does) was they didn’t understand why they were doing it so they were jumping ahead too much and I didn’t have much to work with when they were done.
