Picnic, City Museum

Saturday, 2-28-2004: My friend Kristine brought her kids over for a few hours during the day to hang out with my kids. They left around 11:30am. Then we went to the park and had a picnic. We stopped by a Casey’s for lots of sandwich supplies, then hung out at the park for about 2 hours. At 4:30pm me, Tricia, my kids, her kid and her niece squeezed into the car and drove to the City Museum. As usual, I was blown away by the number of improvements there since my last visit. I go there several times a year and there’s always new things to do. We stayed until about 9:00pm. This is my first time visiting the City Museum in the evening. They had a campfire with free marshmellows for everyone. That place rules. By the time we got back into town, I was the only one in the car awake.

New cell phone

Monday, 2-23-2004: Time for another weekly update since I’m too lazy to do them every day. My week was boring. On Friday after work, I went to a Sprint PCS store and got a new phone. My 2 best friends have Sprint PCS camera phones so I figure it’s time to get one for myself. I do some shopping and decide on a Toshiba VM4050 because it’s got the prettiest display. It also takes 640×480 pictures and is 1/3 smaller than my old Sanyo 4900. I usually carry my old Kodak digital camera with me just about everywhere I go so this phone will help me eliminate that. The quality isn’t quite as good as my Kodak, but it’s good enough for outdoor pictures. Here’s a few of the pictures I took with my phone throughout the weekend. They don’t really come out this small, I shrunk them. Roll your mouse over each picture for a description.

On Saturday is0tek came over and we ended up going to IHOP for some supper. On Sunday my kids left around 2ish and I spent much of the evening working on notla.com, fixing and updating things. Hmmm, what else. I cleaned my basement, went to Lowe’s and bought a door for my closet and sold an old stove in my basement. That was my weekend. I’m boring.

Feeding Ducks

Sunday, 2-15-2004: After spending half a day doing nothing but play Simpon’s Road Rage, we decided to take a trip to the cemetary to feed the ducks. We gave them bread, crackers, cinnemon thingies and wheat thins. It was only 30 degrees out so we didn’t last more than about 10 minutes. There was a whole lake full of ducks but for some reason they stayed away from us. Here’s a few pictures:

Weekend of Painting

Saturday, 2-7-2004: No kids all day today or tomorrow. I started my day by completely emptying out the living room and dining room. It took less than an hour but the rooms are completely empty now, including curtains, pictures and furniture. I plan to paint all the walls this weekend. I spent all day sanding and patching the unfinished walls. I’ve lived here for over 6 years now and have never painted the walls in the living/dining rooms. They’re kind of a yellowish white color mixed in with scratches, dirt, streaks, scribbles (Emily liked to color on the walls when she was a baby). Tricia came over and we went to Lowes so she could help me pick out colors. We decided on #C5BD8C for the living room and #83ABD7 for the front door/closet area. Click here to see Tricia’s secret message to Lowes. After Lowes, we went to the Funny Bone to see Bobcat Goldthwait. I’ve seen him before but he was still pretty funny. A couple of guys got thrown out of the club near the end for heckling him so much.

Sunday, 2-8-2004: Spent all day painting. Looks really good. It’s weird to have clean walls. Moved most of the furniture back. Here’s a picture.

Mcdonald’s Sign, 2600

Friday, 2-6-2004: This week a created a new McDonald’s sign to replace my stolen one. Today me and Tricia drove to McDonald’s to put it up. It all seemed to go well but when we came back to snap a picture of it just 5 minutes later, it was gone. It turned out that the glue and sticky strips I use didn’t hold it up. Most likely because of the freezing weather. Today Elonka introduced me to orkut.com which I signed up for. Seems like a cool service. I set up Orkut communities for PLA and the Riverbend. After work today I went to the 2600 meeting which I haven’t attended in 3 or 4 months now. There were only 4 of us, probably because of the icy weather. After the meeting I drove by McDonald’s and retreived my fallen sign from the ground. It was covered in snow but it seemed to be undamaged. We’ll have to try it again this weekend.
